This post is written for introductory purposes and answering questions like :

What is Project Recon?

Project Recon in its essence is a Movement of Empowerment of the individual in Sikkim.

Now, Empowerment could mean championing a number of things, activities or causes.

At the moment, Project Recon addresses Empowerment by supporting and promoting: Research and local Entrepreneurs. We use the word entrepreneur in its widest context to include anybody working on a project in any field from the arts to handicraft. There is no discrimination of work based on its category at Project Recon.

Now you may be thinking:

'But how do you do this?'

As mentioned above, we are focusing our efforts on two fronts at the moment – Research and Entrepreneurship.

For Research,

Project Recon: Research Connect (website that you are on) is a hub for students at the Masters level to collaborate with an expert (person with Phd in their field) on their dissertation thesis. The Research Connect initiative is conceived with an aim of making the dissertation productive, meaningful and an overall fun process for the students. The idea of 'collaboration' is vital as there will be no tutoring provided in this initiative. Research Connect will provide you will all the right recipe and all necessary tools to make the collaboration successful and completely accessible. Moreover, the collaboration will mostly occur digitally to make it accessible to the student and the expert. Research Connect aims to publish and disseminate dissertations that meet the standard criteria approved by the expert. If you're an academic looking to create a buzz, this is it!

For Entrepreneurs,

Project Recon: Podium (Click to view website) promotes work from individuals of Sikkim. As mentioned earlier, we use the word Entrepreneur in its loosest context so, if you're a jazz player looking to release a demo or a writer looking to share your short story or even a cushion maker looking to exhibit your cushions, Podium will help you do that as long as its 100% local. The Podium is yours and its exclusively for your creations.
